What 'We' Do

'We' refers mainly to me, most of the year. I work predominately solo as an Fx artist providing elements for just about any type of effect your project could need. From time to time, I team up with other artists to get larger jobs done, or join a team of artists at other companies.

If you are in need of Fx elements for any type of production, from Tv Series to Commercial work, Music Videos or Feature films, Reach Out with any questions you might have about your needs and how 'we' can help. Check out the Reels to see examples of work from previous projects and the RnD page to check out what's cooking on the back burner.

A little about me

I started working in the visual effects industry nearly 20 years ago. I moved cross country to Los Angeles at the age of 20, after graduating as Salutatorian of my class at Full Sail in Winter Park Florida. My first gig was working on Kevin Smith’s Film Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Hand tracking camera moves before all this 'software' came along and creating laser beams, it was a great first experience to an industry I am still working in today.

Like a lot of CG artists, I started as a generalist and quickly became interested in creating Dynamic Effects. How much more fun can you have than getting to blow things up within a computer simulation.?! I spent about 13 years using Maya software, and added Houdini to the mix roughly 7 years ago.

I have been into visual arts for most of my life, Starting with photography at the age of 10, and using photoshop as far back as the 4th grade. Photography is still a large part of my life and has helped me develop an eye critical to detail and aesthetic composition. I have picked up painting as another hobby lately in both acrylic and oils.

I hope you enjoy the site I have put together. Reach Out for any job inquiries and scheduling, or if you have any questions in general.

The Name

Where did the name Sim Theory come from? Well It started as a play on the scientific term String Theory, but there is also a concept known as simulation theory, that speculates we are all living inside of a simulation. As a dynamics artist, you do live inside a simulation, figuratively at least.!
